Thomas Cook removes bullfighting from websites
27 July 2007 The Thomas Cook holiday company has responded positively to an appeal by ICABS and removed bullfighting references from its Airtours, Direct Holidays and Mytravel websites. In a letter to the company earlier this month we pointed out how most holidaymakers find bullfighting upsetting. In response, Responsible Tourism Manager at MyTravel UK/Thomas Cook Group, Ruth Holroyd, outlined that Thomas Cook have a policy of not promoting bullfighting. "I would like to add that the Thomas Cook Group do not condone bullfighting," she stated. "We do not sell any excursions to watch bullfighting and many employees in resort will discourage customers from doing so." ICABS has thanked Thomas Cook for this positive move and for their pro-animal policy. Removed from the sites were the following bullfighting references:
