Campaign against fiesta involving chasing of bull into sea
29 June 2007

The International Movement Against Bullfights is calling on people all around the world to lodge a complaint with the mayor of a Spanish town where a bull is chased into the sea. The unfortunate creature is at risk of drowning when it falls into the local harbour.

The Bous a la Mar event is held every July in the Valencian town of Denia to commemorate the Day of the Sacred Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ. According to campaigners, those who chase the bull are armed with sticks and they may hit and kick the animal.

Bull being taunted, bull at harbour's edge, bull in water
Water disgrace: Denia's shameful Bous a la Mar fiesta which leaves a bull in the harbour struggling to swim to safety.
