Michael D. Higgins: To ask the Minister for Agriculture and Food if representatives from her Department have, in the past, placed snares or other traps in Coillte's Kilcornaun Wood in Clarinbridge, County Galway as part of their tuberculosis eradication scheme. For WRITTEN answer. Ref No: 13537/05 The Minister for Agriculture and Food (Mary Coughlan): In May 2004 Farm Relief Service operatives under supervision of my Department and licensed by the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government placed some restraints in this area as part of the Tuberculosis Eradication Scheme. Some of the restraints that were placed in Kilcornaun Wood went missing and would appear to have been stolen. The matter of the stolen restraints was referred to the Garda authorities. No further restraints have been placed in this area since May 2004.
