Gorey Councillor horrified that cruel coursing continues
31 January 2014
A big thank you to Gorey Town Councillor Trish Quinn for speaking out against cruel hare coursing. The Fianna Fail politician recently told ICABS she is horrified that coursing still continues and that she supports a ban on the bloodsport.
"Having grown up in Gorey, I lived beside the showgrounds and hare coursing took place most weekends there during coursing season," she said. "I was terrified then of the cruelty of the sport and am horrified that this is still going on in this day and age."
The Irish Council Against Blood Sports is grateful to Cllr Quinn for her statement. We are calling on more councillors around the country to recognise the suffering caused in coursing and to push for a ban.
ACTION ALERT
Please contact your local councillors and ask them where they stand on bloodsports and other animal cruelty issues. Urge them to back a ban. Let us know about replies you receive. Thank you.
