"I'm totally against all blood sports," award-winning singer/songwriter Don Mescall has stated in an email to the Irish Council Against Blood Sports.

County Limerick native, Don Mescall is a celebrated singer/songwriter who was recently named "International Songwriter of the Year" in the Hot Country TV Awards 2012. He has written songs for Ronan Keating, Boyzone, Backstreet Boys, Rascal Flatts, Clay Aiken, Ramin Karimloo, Lulu, Aslan, Richie Havens and many more. He has also acted as Assistant Coach on Voice Of Ireland.

About Don Mescall

2012 has been a year of success thus far, for one of Ireland's most exported songwriters, Don Mescall. Having contributed to over 8.5 million record sales and having accumulated over 9 million YouTube hits on his songs, Co. Limerick native Don Mescall is one of the most successful Irish songwriters of contemporary times.

With a string of high profile compositions already under his belt including major hits for Rascal Flatts, Ronan Keating and Backstreet Boys, 2012 has taken Don to new heights. In January, Don would appear alongside Sharon Corr as an assistant coach on the much acclaimed TV show, 'The Voice Of Ireland'.

Branching out from that, he would also co-write a number of songs on Sharon's new album, 'Catch The Moon' including 'Edge Of Nowhere' which is proving popular in Sharon's live shows. Sharon and Don also appeared together, along with other 'Voice of Ireland' coaches Kian Egan, Brian Kennedy and Bressie at a sold out gig in Dublin's Pepper Canister Church.

As the year progressed, Irish Rock band Aslan had a No.1 hit with Don's 'Too Late For Hallelujah', which also appears on their new album celebrating their 30th anniversary. The band also performed the song on 'The Late Late Show' making it the second of Don's songs to be featured this year. He also wrote three songs including 'Constant Angel' for the new album from Ramin Karimloo, the youngest actor to play the Phantom in Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'Phantom of the Opera' on the West End.

In May, Don was awarded 'Best International Songwriter' by Sky 201's 'Hot Country' TV Show, at their annual awards night. He also recently collaborated with Brian Kennedy on a song for his new album, 'Broken Crown'. Another two of his compositions, 'Long Way Down' and 'Only A Town' are to be included in a short film entitled 'The Underground'. It has also recently been confirmed that an upcoming Southern Rock band in Nashville will be recording one of Don's songs for their new album.

Don is recently back from Nashville, having spent the summer collaborating with top US-based writers. His song entitled 'The One You Love Tonight' featured on Ronan Keating's new album. It was also recently announced that Don's song 'My Eyes Open' will be featured on the new album from top US Country band Lonestar, due for release in October. Don has also composed an anthem for the World Gospel Choir entitled 'Faith and Friendship' which will be performed at the Kilkenny International Gospel Choir Festival between 30th August-2nd September.
