Groupon removes reference to bullfighters from Madrid attractions
26 March 2019
Groupon has been thanked for removing a reference to "bullfighters showing off their skills at the corrida" from a Madrid attractions list.
The reference appeared on a page publicising a current Madrid holiday offer https://www.groupon.ie/deals/ga-weekender-breaks-1936
In an email to Groupon, ICABS pointed out that bullfighting involves slowly torturing a bull with spears and spikes before the bleeding and exhausted animal has a sword plunged into his heart.
“Due to the violent cruelty involved - and due to the fact that many tourists lured in to bullrings leave feeling shocked and disgusted - this should not be promoted as a holiday activity by Groupon,” we stated.
Groupon is the latest in a growing list of companies which have responded positively to our appeals and rejected bullfighting. These include American Airlines, Aer Lingus, EasyJet, Ryanair Magazine, Jet2holidays, Marriott International, Hilton Hampton, Ebookers, IceLolly.com, Club Travel, Abbey Travel, Sunways, Low Cost Holidays.ie, Travel Department, Cancun Holidays Information Center, Co-op Travel, Ultimate Travel, No Fly Cruising, City Breaks 101, Original Travel, Escape Trips, Charter Travel, NY.T.Roma Hotel, Exclusive GP, Just Resorts, Burleigh Travel, Abercrombie & Kent, Holiday Transfers, Iglu Cruise, Oliver's Travel's, StagWeb, Joe Walsh Tours, Budget Travel, Osprey Holidays, AlphaRooms.com, Hays Travel, Le Boat, Holiday Hypermarket, Pack Your Bags, USIT Travel, Euroventure, Netflights, Sunshine.co.uk, LateDeals, Stagit, Sports Travel Guru, Ticmate, Eurocamp and Tickx.
